Q: Where can I find retail and sales jobs in Columbia, South Carolina?
Retail jobs, as in Target, Wal Mart, Khols, etc.

A: The best way to get retail jobs is to hit the pavement. Stop in at every store within your commuting area and fill out their job application. If you aren't local then you can try the job boards (Monster, CareerBuilder, HotJobs) but many retail positions are not posted because the job boards are expensive. THAT SAID, if you are looking for jobs with Target, WalMart, and big companies like that, try their corporate web sites. They may have job postings or contact information for local stores. If you do hit the street, remember that in a sense you are interviewing the moment you set foot in the store to fill out the application. You should be dressed nicely (not necessarily in a business suit, but not in baggy jeans and a sweatshirt either), walk with good posture and like you have a purpose, speak with confidence but not arrogance or with an attitude. Remember that you are asking to care for their customers and they only want to hire people who will do that well.

Q: How come all you see in websites for jobs is "sales, retail, work from home"???
It's funny that couple years ago used to find good jobs in Careerbuilder, Monster, Craigslist... but now all I see (and not just me, that's something me and my friends were talking about the other day)is sales, retail... the "work from home" thing, that tells you you'll be making some unreal amount of money in a month... ??? I also have a hard time finding "big companys"'s post online. You have to go to theyr website and get lucky to find job offers. Does anyone have any idea in how to get more information of "real" and "good" job offers... ? ps: most of people I know is going through a bad time financially right now... any ideas? Thanks guys. RioGuy.

A: I know what you are going through. I also tried to find jobs online years ago. Comforting that some things stay the same while others change. See if you qualify for welfare/medicaid. If you have a chronic illness, you might. I know what it's like to be broke and unemployed for over a year, so you really need to just keep going to your local employment office and apply for any job you can do or would do with training. You're in a rough spot and I'm sorry for that. But all you can do is just keep actively seeking work through your county employment office, friends and business contacts, and keep visiting the sites of the larger companies. Somehow something will come through. The more you pound the pavement, the sooner you can find a job. Man, I really wish I could help more, but there's really nothing else I know to do. I hope you find work soon. If you're religious, pray. If you're not religious, that's OK. You don't have to be. Good luck!!

Q: what retail stores offer sales associate jobs for teenagers 15 years of age?

Q: What's the difference between a Retail and Sales job?
I've been currently looking for a part-time job and would like to be those people that just stock and help people and stuff. Is that called working "retail" or "sales"? What's the difference?

A: In short, retail is what you are looking for; replenishing stock, helping customers and stuff like that. Generally Retail is working in store or outlet, being a shop assistant or manager. There are higher level careers in retail. Behind every store are several men in suits. Business structure and development is very different to working in store, but its' all part of the same picture. Sales is working either in an office, or door-to-door (field sales). Or can be in store, think phone stores and the like, but its' basically all the 'hard' sell stuff. It takes a certain personality to pull off sales and a certain ease of conscionce, since you tend to bend the truth here and there if it will nail a good sale. Hope this helps. Good luck with the job hunt. Good Luck.

Q: How to get a job in Retail/sales for T-mobile?
How to get a sales position that will allow me to out my sales, and customer service skills to the test. Im 19 about to get into college, and I work in a tire shop now, but it seems like im stuck there, I need to get into a sales job, where I can stay clean, and look professional !!!!! I live I live in the Chicago land area!!!

A: Go to www.t-mobile.com/jobs Find your area and for the category choose "Sales - Retail" if you want to work in the Retail stores, though there are plenty of other fields for sales, the Retail category is for the most part, the entry-level point for the Sales department. Look for the "Retail Sales Representative" job with your area next to it and apply for it. You will have to take a sales battery test that will determine if you are qualified, it's not that hard though. Sales experience is a plus, customer service experience as well. Good luck.

Q: Multiple Seasonal Retail Sales Positions?
I applied for multiple Sales Associate positions and have gotten interviews with 3 different companies. I have already gotten a job at one of the 3 companies but they do not have set schedules so it varies week to week. How do I handle 2 retail sales jobs if our schedules vary and how do I go about talking to the managers in regards to another job? I guess I am scared I won't get as many hours because I have another job and that is the main reason I applied to so many places because everyone is looking for part-time, not full-time. Thank you for the help!

A: just tell the 2nd job that you have another part time job and that if they are willing to work w/ that schedule it would be greatly appreciated. tell them you can give them your schedule when it becomes available or if the 2nd job has a set schedule see if the other job is willing to work around it!

Q: Is a job in retail sales really that bad for a college graduate?
I would be making more money than any job in the field in which I got my degree in. And it's a lot easier work. But a lot of people I know look down on people who work in retail sales. What do you think?

A: If you like retail sales AND you're making money, whats the dilema? People look down on lawyers and they make an S load of money

Q: I have a four year college degree in business. Should I keep working for my retail sales job?
I have worked 6 years for an eyeglass shop...but have also finished my college degree in MIS

A: Keep working but start sending out your resume. You have a leg up on the competition as you have been employed. Many in college don't work and are royally screwed when they get their degree. Why the guidance councilors don't tell them to get jobs is beyond me.

Q: what are the best types of courses for getting into sales and retail jobs?

A: Sales and retail... In Singles and dating? What are you hoping to sell exactly?

Q: How can I get experience in working for retail/sales, if no one will hire me?
I want to get a job for a supermarket or for a Petsmart store, but I have no experience in working in retail/sale. I've applied for a job for stores before, and I guess they didn't want to hire me because I have no experience. These stores were hiring at the time. How can I get a job in retail/sale, if no one will hire me?

A: make sure when you fill out the application you are very careful to make sure you spell everything correctly and fill it out completely. Also, make sure you fill it out a neatly as possible. I have managed several retail stores, if the applicant could not follow directions on the application I would not even check references or call the person back for an interview. Also, make sure you are properly attired when you pick up and return the application. If you do not hear back from the company in one week, call and ask to speak either to personnel or to the store manager. Tell them very politely who you are and why you are calling. The nicer you are and the moreyou look like others that allready work there the better. If you do get an interview, make sure you show up a few minutes early. Know some stuff about the company and know why you want to work there. Not because you need the money or "you think it would be neat". give a real reason, such as working at Starbucks because they do things to help the community, such as giving away used grounds and giving day old pastries to the homeless shelters. Investigate the company you are interviewing for and have some interesting information for the interview. Make sure you stand out for positive reasons, not negative. If you are applying for Petsmart, for example, you can talk about your experience with animals. Pets, shelter work, ect..

Q: Need help with a Resume for Retail Sales Position?
I am applying for a job as a Retail Sales Manager for a clothing store. I previously co-owned a clothing boutique. I handled all the daily functions of the store. Including buying the merchandise and creating a rapport w/ the vedors. Should I include all of this information ? Should I make my job title Sales Manager or Store Manager or Owner?

A: I would go with the "Sales Manager" title and downplay, or eliminate the "Owner" title. Right or wrong, some people get apprehensive about hiring a former owner.

Q: How do I get a job in retail sales?
I'm not an idiot, I'm mature, plenty of previous work experience and I just want to work. How can I at least get to the interview stage after submitting my resume?

A: you have to make sure that your resume is awesome and that you call ahead to see when the manager or supervisor is going to be in you go in at that time and request to give the resume to them personally. after you give the resume , call a couple days later to check on the status of the hiring . they will let you know something then , probably

Q: Does anyone know any job headhunter or job recruiter companies for the retail sales field?
I have been trying to find a job and I have been out of the job market for some time now and I am ready to get back in it but it has been hard. I have retail sales and customer service experience and I just don't know where to start.

A: I don't know of any, but you can try manpower and general employment. Personally, you should try and go into any of those places close to your house that you want to work and strike up friendly conversation with some of the people there, and ask the inside scoop: "You're having fun! Do you know if they're looking for anyone? Great - who should I talk to about that? You guys have such a great store - What's it like to work here?" I would just make sure I was very presentable and professional averytime I went in, strike up conversation and friendships, and you will find yourself really settling into a place that you enjoy. Make sure they know that you can separate business from pleasure, but you also appreciate that it's easier to work in an environment where people are generally friendly towards one another, and reference your experience, and state that you are serious about getting on with a good company at a good store, and working hard. Hope that helps, especially if you've had trouble getting an invite through the typical hiring avenues (application/resume at the desk please...). Sadly, most hiring processes are very, very inefficient. Good luck!

Q: retail sales job positions?
what are the retail sales positions? i'm especially interested in knowing what you call the person who greets you, goes around the store making sure everything's in order... and also, the greeter person i'm talking about above...can the person also work as cashier as well?

A: The retail positions are the cashiers and they sell merchandise at retail. And the person that walks around the store is probably the manager and they do work at the tills sometimes. I have my own business and sell products at retail.
