Q: Marketing Director Job for theater company?
I have a group project and need to know what he does.

A: Marketing director will be in charge of organizing the marketing message about the production. I'm guessing theater is not cinema. So the marketing director would be in charge of design of posters (in some cases), advertising message (what are they trying to tell people about the production), places of advertising (billboards, art journals, newspaper, sky writing, placing footprints on the sidewalk to the front door, ect..), and budgeting. Hope this helps

Q: How easy is a Marketing Directors job?
I have an interview tomorrow for a marketing director position, but the thing is, my degree isn't in that field.. And I told them that, and I also told them I have NO experience, but Im a quick learner. They seemed very desperate, and Im wondering if they will train me for a few days, just throw me in there or just not hire me? I have a background in something similar, but not quite. And like I said, they sounded VERY desperate. Also, does anyone know the average hourly? Minimum wage here is $5.15 I believe...

A: hey, i think im almost the perfect person to answer your ? . Im currently a marketing manager and have beenin this role for about 6months. My degree is in PR and HR so close but not the same and i had no experience at all. But its one of those roles that you can adpat to fairly well as long as you can learn quickly and kind of understand the job. You should be sweet

Q: Marketing Director?
I was wondering how stressful it is being a Marketing Director for a big company and if it is more stressful than being a teacher. If you can also give me a little description on what it is like being a Marketing Director and if you like your job.

A: Hi, If you can't handle stress become a teacher! As a MD you are CONSTANTLY MEASURED! Here is an example. "JM, can you please explain why we have two new products, that your team suggested, and what progress has been made in achieving the 10% market share you promised in your initial product proposal. Also explain how your advertising campaign is contributing to reaching that goal". That would be an EASY SESSION and you had better be prepared to ANSWER COMPLETELY or lick your wounds under your desk in a dark office. Your research has to be as much internal as external so that you can ANTICIPATE the QUESTIONS and be PREPARED!!! Here is a true story. I was SMM at a small division of a $500M company in the 70's. We actually made things then, engineering was in the same building and technology was expanding. I was charged with coming up with a new product that would get the division on the map. I have a partial EE, but NEVER owned a plastic pocket protector. I also had a PREMIER engineering group and I could talk their talk. The product was READY and the print media was done. We used an outside agency and the guy looked like Jesus. We had our creative focus groups in his office hot tub with wine and joints. HAH, I would have been FIRED if the company knew, but the ads GOT ATTENTION and the product TOOK OFF like a rocket. We were KICKING our major competitors DONKEY and they were NOT HAPPY. I had engineering resourses that put rockets in the air and they had about 4 guys in nasty sweaters. They also had the financial backing of a HUGE guy so they just bought the division. I was FRIENDS with the MD of our competitor, you could do that then without getting busted by the SEC. He was a QUALITY guy and there wasn't room for two of us; he fired me over drinks and dinner and we remained friends for 20 years. The point of the story is that you can do TOO GOOD of a JOB. If you read people well, can build a LOYAL TEAM, can accept a MEASURABLE challange and can THINK AHEAD of the market, GO FOR IT!!! It really is GREAT FUN and nice compensation as a package. I was also married to a teacher for over 20 years and coached hs soccer for 20 years. The PARENTS are the PROBLEM and you have to be PC 28/7. The accountability is also considerably less along with the compensation. VERY REWARDING THOUGH!!! I was asked SEVERAL times to join the hs as a teacher and they said that they would create a class for me so that I could be the on campus coach. I declined because there are just TOO MANY RULES and STRUCTURE that I felt limited my creative contribution. I am currently the SM at an electronics distributor, retail / industrial and report to the pres. He is 20 years my junior and part of my job is to tell him when he is "FULL of IT". I walk a THIN line but I LOVE the challenge of "spinning" it so it doesn't ANGER him. I hope that this helps and GOOD LUCK, Jacques

Q: I am currently a marketing director for an engineering firm. i would like to find a more meaningful job...?
I am moving to missouri and i would really like to find a job with a company that does a significant amount of "good". "Good" is open to your interpretation. I can not work for a non-profit agency because the money is horrible. It is going to have to be a large private company. I am looking for a wide array of suggestions. Please tell me the name of the company that i should do marketing or public relations for. Thank you.

A: You can probably look for some top companies in the territory you are moving to or you are interested in. You can apply through their websites and whether these companies have some senior level positions for the profile you are handling currently.

Q: What does a Marketing Communications Director do?
What does a Marketing Communications Director do in a business? What is the job description? Will vote for a best answer!

A: Director of a department. Manage (hire & fire) people, create Budgets, control spend. Take responsibility for all Product information, promotion, Press Releases etc. Usually responsible for Exhibitions and trade shows. This would normally be a senior post and the applicant would be expected to have 10+ years experience in the field of 'Marketing Communications' .. NB> Why not look up the job 'vacancy' = Directors are usually 'appointed' rather than 'recruited', so try the Sunday Times 'Appointments' supplement.

Q: what's a catchy job title for marketing director?
I'm thinking more along the lines of Vice-Bagel of Jazz or Communications Ninja... what do you think? Chief marketing director is not a catchy name for marketing director. Other suggestions?

A: Marketing Director is fine, or Chief Marketing Officer.

Q: i am looking for a part time student job that can lead me to a becoming a marketing director in the future...?
what kind of job can I work now that I can work up in and possibly lead to something related. If I do marketing, I want to promote products and advertising.

A: Hi there, I think your best direction is retail. Retail positions offer a ground-up spectrum of experience, and you get to see your target marketing in buying mode. Also, as a student you'll want something with flexible hours, which a retail job is perfect for. Managers are used to students needing to work around their school schedules. The most important thing to consider is what kind of industry you'd like to work in. Certain companies (Starbucks, American Apparel) are known for being progressive and breaking new ground. Other companies (Wal-mart, grocery stores) are not. You'll probably want to work somewhere a little more cutting edge, as that will give you the experience you're probably looking for as a future marketing professional. Nobody ever wanted to get into marketing so they could sell plumbing parts or weed whackers. Good luck in your marketing career! Naomi Dunford Itty Bitty Marketing

what is best job search site for director or vp positions in field marketing?

Q: I am a Marketing Director for a really small firm. I need a jod change to make more money. Ideas?
I am a Marketing Director for a really small firm in a rural community. I would like to leave my current job and find a higher paying one in my small community. What options do I have? I have heard pharmaceutical sales and dental supply sales to name a few.

A: I understand Hillary is interviewing for personnel for her campaign for the presidency. Of course, you'd have to be willing to travel! And, it would probably be a "temporary position," but who knows? don't be afraid to change your life!

Q: What exactly does a marketing job for a company require a person to do????
Whether they are a marketing assistant, director etc

A: The scope of this job is huge and varies with each type of job and every company. But typically, it could be anything from doing the Marketing Plan and budget, the advertising buy, print & collateral coordination, brand management, overseeing graphic design, networking and strategic partnerships, sales... The list really goes on and on....

Q: Fast growing company with a marketing assistant job available - but sounds like an executive assistant?
Hi there- So I am pursuing my MBA with a concentration in Marketing. I have a Masters in Education and no background in Marketing or Business (except for some volunteer exploratory work I have done running my own temporary non-profit). So while I am completing the MBA - I am looking for something where I can learn about Marketing, get my hands into it (get dirty while learning basically), and better yet, have a career in that company. I went on an interview yesterday that I almost felt first unqualified for based on its description (see below: I know nothing about marketing analysis or IT) but they called me in for an interview anyways. Small company - growing fast - small numbers as far as staff for right now. But it is clear they will get BIG. They emailed me for a second interview right after I left - to come in today. Before I proceed forward, I want to be prepared. Thing is that when she described the marketing assistant (which is a new role there), I heard things such as: - Checking the CEO's flights - Managing the office - Making sure the printer doesn't run out of ink - Just making sure the office isn't in "limbo" with some things thrown in like: - Maybe contribute some ideas to the website - Maybe contribute some ideas to our promotional material - Proofread marketing analysis, website, and have strong grammar skills - And randomly asked if I had good math skills so I don't know where that will be used I see the opportunity certainly to grow with a growing company but I am concerned that I am playing a exec. asst role to the CEO for now. I don't want to get stuck there. Basically I am saying that I don't want a Marketing Director job to come up down the road and they hire someone else. That is my goal or even MORE than that. I know the role is new so there are no definitive duties that she can list. It is clear I need to work from the bottom up doing a little administrative work but I want to make sure this supports my career. She didn't really stress assisting the Marketing Manager as much as assisting the CEO. Is this still a good start for someone in Marketing or a company that has just made up a bogus title? This is her description she originally sent me: "This position is brand new. I would say 50% is administrative support to the CEO, CFO and Controller, and the other 50% is working on different types of projects such as marketing (website, brand development, etc), proofreading marketing analysis, IT support and etc… We are looking for someone who is bright, has strong math, computer and English skills. Being that our plans are to grow this company, we need to get the right person in place who can handle a lot of responsibility and grow with us."

A: it's a great opportunity to learn-with no real business experience even your MBA will not get you into most good jobs. Yes, there is admin work, but once you prove your value, they will hire an admin. It sounds like it is perfect for you-swallow your pride, you won't be sorry. These small companies run lean, but are quick to recognize talent. They don't want to hire a full time admin only, but need some admin work done. Plus, you'll make good contacts in the business community.

Q: What is the best web site/web service for finding SENIOR LEVEL jobs in marketing strategy and analytics?
Monster, Career Builder and the like seem only good for junior or mid level positions. My specialty is actually pricing strategy, but a broader search area I use is market strategy, or market analytics. Looking for an effective site (Ladders, or ExecU Net type) that focuses on Senior Director or VP level positions.

A: Management Recruiters does a good job. Also, if you're at that level, you should be networking to get your next job - that's how I've gotten my last 3. Mostly working trade shows, but not "looking for work", just looking to network.

Q: How much do entertainment industry jobs make pay like?
not glamourous jobs like actor, singer etc...jobs like working as a marketing manager or marketing director for a major film co., tv network, fashion designer, magazine etc.... I know the market is in cali and ny...and i know the cost of living is expensive but if im gonna be able to live comfortably( get a mansion) i would sacrifice that for higher cost of living...

A: Check job sites like Monster.com for going rates. Honestly the top people can earn bucks in any field. The vast majority won't earn that much. Anything associated with entertainment is a glamorous job compared to doing the same job for other industries so the wages might be less (since more people want to do it - basic supply and demand). To put in perspective Southern California prices - a moderate sized house in LA/Orange County is over $600,000. Check Realtor.com to get an idea. Put the wages to the housing prices. It's ain't easy. :)

Q: How is the job market for pianist/organist/church music director in North Carolina?
I am a well-trained piano teacher and church music director and have been living and working in NY and CT. I have heard about the economic boom in NC and am wondering about finding a job there.

A: Well I know that in my area of PA (the Poconos), there are at least 5 churches looking for organists right now. But alas, all 5 are part time. These might help you: www.churchstaffing.com www.churchjobs.net They're free searchable databases of church jobs across the country. Good luck in your search!
