Q: Nursing home jobs VS hospital jobs?
Im a nursing student looking for a job in the hospital or nursing home. how does the pay compare between these 2 facilities??

A: Just remember first thing... Hopsitals, it is a new face everyday a new problem everyday... in Nursing Homes you have the same people with the same problems every day! The pay in my state is higher for Hospital employees.

Q: is it easy to get hired at a nursing home?
I am going to school to become a medical assistand as well as a medical coder and I still have a lot of school left but just down the road from me there is a nursing home. I was wondering if anyone could give me advise about getting hired at a nursing home. Also i have heard the turnover rate is high. Anyone have real knowledge of how easy it is to get into the nursing home job market.

A: I have a teacher who owns a nursing home and she is really being strict on who she allows near her clients because she has to trust them to be alone with the elderly and make sure that they don't get treated badly...Its not he easiest thing...not just anyone can do it

Q: I have a question about nursing home work?
What all do you need to get a nursing home job? I have heard that you need CNA classes, if you apply for the job will that be in the training? Any info I can get about the job itself and the hiring process would be helpful. thanks

A: Some places train their staff. Get out the yellow pages, call nursing homes that are near your home and find out if they require prior training or if they train you. If you go to yahoo yellow pages and put in your address, they will list them with the ones closest to your home first after the advertisements. They are looking for dependable people who show up on time and call in if they can't come in. There is a shortage of people in that field.

Q: Where do I find the "non" nursing home jobs for a CNA?
I am thinking about becoming a CNA, and I would prefer to not work in a nursing home, or as a home health aide. My preference would be to be in a physicians office or hospital. I'm applying to nursing school soon, and would like to get with a place that would allow me to grow (like a hospital or physician's office). I am not interested in working with the elderly. Is this a realistic way of thinking? Are these plentiful within the CNA community? etc I live in florida, so someone familiar with Florida and CNA's would be helpful.

A: Ok, say you apply at the hospital and you are put on the Cardiology, Orthopedics, Oncology, etc... halls. Most of your patients are going to be elderly. That is just who needs the most medical care. If you want the work in Pediatrics, L&D or in the Nursery, I can almost guarantee that you will need experience. As for physician's offices, most use Medical Assistants rather than Nursing Assistants. And those positions for CNAs in offices are very competitive- who wouldn't want office hours? You would need experience. You don't have to stay working with the elderly, you can move to working in L&D and with children, but you probably will not start out doing that. They want experienced CNAs- not someone fresh out of CNA school who might not be able to handle it. They need to know you have a strong work history as a CNA. Sooo many new CNAs say they will never work in a nursing home. I've heard it a lot. But most do have have to start out in long-term care.

Q: is it hard to find a nursing home administrator job when you have a masters in public administration?
I have a masters in public administration and recently received my nursing home admin license. Just want to know what the job market is like for someone with my credentials who has managed a home health company but not a nursing home.

A: as the two are very different you probably would need to start in an assistant administrator position to learn some of the complexities. in a nursing home you will be dealing with everything from home health as well as housekeeping, maintenance, dietary, procurement/supply, restorative therapy, as well as medicare CNA training programs. staffing and retention are similar but most likely on a much larger scale. state auditor issues are different and include health department for the kitchen and fire marshalls for building. family issues are different from home health care. as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy issues tend to have a different focus. the demand over the next 20 years is expected to at least double according to the US Department of Labor.

Q: Does anyone know of any L.P.N jobs in the Columbus, Ohio area? I am not really looking for a nursing home job.

A: Get out the yellow pages and look up nursing and call the agencies. There are always lots of openings for LPNs to do home health work.

Q: jobs at nursing home or hospital?
what job can i do in a nursing home if i dont have clinical experience? im taking only the prerequisites for nursing school but no hands on experience. what position can i apply for then? i really want to get a slight experience of the world of nursing.

A: I think its great your thinking about helping the elderly. You could serve food, clean, or just read to the old people. My friend got a job decorating the place for christmas, and now she decrorates for all the holidays. Gets paid a crapload too.

Q: When calling a nursing home to see if they train for CNA jobs for free, what is the best way to ask them?
I'm going to take my friends advise to call the local hospitals and nursing homes to see if they can give me a Job for a CNA wile they train me for it. Yet I'm just curiose to see how any one else asked for there Job if they ever had to do what I did. I'm leaving my old job becuse they dont want to pay for my school even though they told me they were and I'm not getting any were close to what I'm going to school for (RN) everyone tells me I should go all the way, start at CNA> 1. I dont have the money between me and my wife we make too much???. 2. I need a job in the feild that can give me experince and help me pay for my school. 3. Collage is very expensive especially when I have a very sick baby boy that I have to be attending too as well I am a father and I love helping and I love doing that for others as well :)

A: "Yes, I was wondering if your company provided on the job training for CNA positions other than an internship." That sounds good to me. I'd hire ya! ;)

Q: CNA jobs in FL: Nursing home/hospital or Home Health?
Hi, I just passed the State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant in Florida, and I would like your honest opinion regarding job choices. I live in Lakeland, FL. I would prefer working in Lakeland than driving to Tampa or Orlando. I am more inclined to go for Home Health (just one person, less stress), but at the same time I would like to work for a hospital or nursing home if they offered to pay for my LPN course in the future. Which one would be better? I'm not a LPN

A: Try to get a job in a state facility. The pay is excellent and you will learn a lot and there is a greater chance for advancement. State jobs are hard to land, but if you do, it will be a good boost for your resume.

Q: Does anyone work at a hospital or nursing home? If so, do they have jobs that do not require experience?
Which jobs don't require a degree.

A: CNA---just need a license which you obtain through a class Medical Records receptionist dietary staff housekeeping activity assistant

Q: Is there any cna jobs in nursing home in queens?
anywhere in ny would be fine

A: Forget searching on Monster or CareerBuilder. They only show nursing jobs form employers who pay to post jobs. What you need is a meta job search for jobs. Like the Yahoo Search for Jobs or the Google of Job search. Try this search: http://www.my-nursing-career.com/jobs/nursing-jobs/index.php?q=Nursing+Home+CNA&l=Queens Or this one: http://www.my-nursing-career.com/jobs/nursing-jobs/index.php?q=CNA+Home&l=Queens Once you are there, you can refine the search, but you will find 99.% of all open jobs from that site. All advertised jobs on the Internet.

Q: FBI Criminal Background check. For a nursing home job. What does it tell the employer?
I have never been in trouble before what is in the fbi background check? Nursing home is requiring this before hire (i dont blame them). I do have some TRAFFIC tickets but other than that nothing. When I was 17 I was arrested for driving without a license (I am an adult now and have learned my lesson believe me after 1000's of dollars paid out)

A: If you've never ben in trouble, it will say nothing. All it does is tell them if you have a criminal record. It doesn't include things like traffic tickets or parking violations. Good luck in the new job.
